Miss Campbell’s P5 class hosted a brilliant Global Intergenerational event this week at Meadow Bridge. In preparation they carried out some research into the terms ‘age-friendly’ and ‘intergenerational’. Then, they planned their ‘age-friendly’ event and hosted some of their grandparents. The grandparents and some of the children brought in an item that they thought a different generation would have never seen before. This was so much fun and everyone became teachers. The group learnt about an egg coddler, an oil lamp, a potato grape, a candle snuffer, a mangle, a satchel, a cassette player, a view master and a plane. The rest of their morning was spent being artistic together decorating memory boxes and making key rings. A huge thank you to all our grandparents for supporting this event and the children were even given potatoes to plant! Our event was supported by Linking Generations NI and Vicki from this organisation came to join us. A great day was had with so many memories made.
