Primary 1/2 - Miss wortley

We are so delighted that you have taken the time to visit our class page.

This is the beginning of P1&2's learning journey and we know that you will enjoy sharing in their fun experiences.  Please check in with us during the year to see what we have been doing.

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn” (Benjamin Franklin)

P1/2 have been learning all about growing. They have been reading all about 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and writing their own versions of this story.  In the Foundation garden they have been planting some vegetables.

They have planted potatoes, onions, peas and parsley.  The children are learning all about how to grow lots of different types of seeds in lots of different ways.  We will share more photos as our seeds grow.  We are hoping to grow a giant beanstalk too!

Foundation Stage are so excited to welcome chickens to Meadow Bridge.

They are called Nutmeg, Cinnamon and Ginger.  We feed them everyday and give them water.  We get three eggs everyday.  The eggs are delicious.  We will keep you posted on how our chickens are doing.

Wee Critters

Primary 1 and 2 enjoyed an amazing visit from 'Wee Critters'.  They got to meet a snake, an owl, a hedgehog, a skunk, a spider and a TOAD!  Allan was able to answer all of our questions and tell us lots of amazing facts.  We had so much fun and learnt so much about different animals.

We learnt about nocturnal animals and animals who were endangered.  We hope you enjoy looking at the photos from our visit.

The children decided to make a Cafe for the play area. They made salt dough and turned it into the most realistic delicacies for their Cafe.

They had such fun weighing, stirring, mixing, rolling and painting.  So many learning opportunities through play!

Number Lines

The Primary 1 children have been working so hard on their counting and digit recognition.  They have been making their own number lines using Numicon, digits and lots of fun apparatus.

They showed great skill in working from left to right, lining up sets and touch counting each set.  They had so much fun working with number!

Snow Writing

After a snowy night all the children had such fun practising their high frequency words in the snow. They just loved snow writing!

Counting and Number Work
P1 are learning all about counting and writing numbers. We decided to step outside and practise our writing of the number 4 on the playground. We love the outdoors.

Everyone had such fun and remembered to say their number rhyme - 'down across and down some more that's the way to make a four.'

Harvesting Vegetables
P1/2 have been harvesting their vegetables from the Foundation Garden.

They have been digging potatoes, pulling up the carrots and onions.  Then they washed and chopped the vegetables to make some delicious soup.  They loved growing their own vegetables and eating them.

Our First Day in School
Meet my wonderful class on their first day at school. I am so excited to be a part of their learning journey and I can't wait to see what exciting ideas they bring to school.
